"speech!" thoughts!
"You have got to be kidding me."
Odette said aloud, staring down at her laptop. It had just barely finished saving her homework when it crashed, a failure notice plastered to the screen of her long-time, electronic companion. She gnawed on her bottom lip and slapped at the keyboard, making a loud ruckus in the middle of the lounge. A loud sigh escaped her, and she flung back in the dainty wooden chair she'd taken residence at for the past two hours. Crossing her arms, she looked around the beautifully decorated room for someone to ask about it, but seeing no one, she flipped her laptop lid closed and stood up, chair squealing against the wooden floors. Odette grabbed her computer bag and shoved the equipment into it, bundling her charger, but not really caring. She hated to do it, but she was going to have to ask Charles if he'd buy her a new one. Strictly for homework purposes- and, of course, online shopping- but she worried about the cost. "What am I going to do now?" She whispered to herself, sitting down on the plush leather couch, the seating squeaking with her weight. Not ready to go home just yet, she grabbed a fashion magazine and began to flip through the pages, even though she'd read the same issue over a hundred times.
'Oooh, what a nice pair of Tezra heels...' she thought to herself, even though she'd looked at those same pair of beige high heels for the thousandth time. Absentmindedly, she began to assess her own wardrobe. Today, she had picked a nice thigh-length silk dress, pastel pink and beige striped in color. Her feed adorned a very expensive-looking, but priced cheaply at a repeat store, metallic brown flats with a gold chain hooked over the toes. Chunky metallic brown necklace and some diamond stud earrings, and her outfit was complete. She could have chosen better, but she had been busy the last few days and almost overslept. School was about to kick her butt, and despite her horrendous amounts of homework she had come up with a schedule that allowed her to do her work and ride Venus all in the space of three hours. Her curfew was strictly eight O'clock, and she didn't get home until three. From the apartments, it was usually a forty-five minute drive to Apache, and she never wasted time. From the moment she stepped in the door in the afternoons, she was chatting to Charles about her day and dressing for the stables at the same time, sometimes snatching a soft peppermint from the counter for Venus.
She wished she could be riding right now, but it was already six and homework had taken longer that planned.'No pity on the homeless kid...'
